Berchtesgaden, 2-sided Pennant / Banner with St Bartholoma, the Church in the Bavarian Alps on the other side. This was bought by my Brother when he was stationed in Germany in 1956. He brought this to me as a gift and I stored it with all my other pennants until now. It is not a pennant, is not felt, has never been displayed, but the ‘tail’ has gotten ratty in storage. It is a triangle, about 9.5’’ tall & 6.25’’ wide. For most of my life, Berchtesgaden was well known as the location of Hitler’s Eagles Nest Retreat, but I think now it is better known as a delightful city in the Bavarian Alps, while St Bartholoma is an ancient pilgrimage church.
This has unpleasant WW2 memories for many people, but it was given to me as a souvenir of Germany.
